Brochures that work best are the ones that are enticing. This means that images, graphs, statistics and how-to's are the features that are a definite must-have.
Like most direct mail pieces, you want to have a great headline with limited text. A strong visual is highly recommended to catch the eye and create curiosity.
Tips On Designing The
Right Brochure Size
You'll be surprised at how many people overlook this basic step.
Double check the size before you start the design process. There's nothing more aggravating than having to change the entire layout because you wanted an 8 x 10 flyer and did your layout as a 5" x 7". Stretching images are not recommended because the resolution will suffer. Nothing worse than a slightly blurred image!
Image Resolution Is Key
Let's face it, the right images really catch the eye and the attention of your readers. Make sure those images are properly sized. Resolutions less that 300 dpi will compromise the look of your brochure. It is a key ingredient in the quality appeal department - so don't settle for anything but the sharpest image resolution.
Check The Bleed Of Your Artwork
If colour backgrounds or images go to the edge of your final brochure size, make sure they go at least 1/8" (preferably 1/4" ) beyond the edge in your layout. You want to have a clean cut when the brochure is trimmed!
